Less is More #409 – Pick a Triangle

Bonjour !

Hello !

It’s Saturday and at Less is More it’s not only the last challenge for November but also for this year 2019. The team is taking a holiday in December. But be sure, we come back on January 4th with a new challenge !

For this challenge we are looking for you to use only one triangle from either of the following 2 layouts for your design, that is to say that your whole design should be contained in the one triangle you select to use.

For this last challenge of the year we are pleased to welcome Tristan (Tinstar)  our September winner. Do go and visit her blog and leave her a lovely comment. Our sponsor for the month is Catherine Pooler.

Voici mes cartes / Here are my cards

1/ Bonne année

Update : Happy and honoured to be one of the favorites over at Cupcake Inspiration Challenge

For this first card I chose the first layout and the triangle in the middle in which I created a little winter scene.

I delimited the triangle with post-it strips, I stamped the snowman and then I masked it. I then created masks for the snowy slopes and I stamped the trees that I also masked.

With a brush and blue ink I created the sky and the edge of the slopes. Then I took off all the masks and I coloured the firs with Catherine Pooler inks and the snowman with colour pencils.

Stamp : Create a Smile “Easy-breezy”, Florilège “Voeux étoilés” (sentiment), Gerda Steiner “Tangled Penguin” – Inks: Catherine Pooler “It’s a boy, Fiesta blue, Lime rickey, Grass skirt” – Pencils : Faber-Castell Polychromos ‘ #111, 113, 115, 125, 131, 133, 230, 231, 232″.

2/ Merry Kiss-Moose

For this second card, I used the second layout. I recently won this very funny set from Gerda Steiner and I found that it was perfect to fit in this triangle.

I stamped the moose and the mistletoe then I masked them to make the background with red Distress inks. Then I took off the masks and I coloured the images with colour pencils.

I cut the triangle and I flat adhered it on the double kraft card then I stamped and I black heat embossed the sentiment.

Stamp : Gerda Steiner “Moose love” – Inks: Distress “Festive berries, Fired brick” – Pencils : Faber-Castell Polychromos ‘ #103, 109, 117, 121, 159, 166, 176, 177, 186, 187, 188, 191, 192, 219, 223, 225, 266, 280″.

3/ Noel

For this last card, I could not resist to made a fir that you have all seen in this triangle in the middle.

I die cut a window in a white card stock with the same size than the double card. On the double card I created the background with a stencil and some inks. I wanted to use a left over from THIS card but it was too thick so I made the pattern again directly on the double card.

I put the die cut back in place in the window and I foam mounted this panel on the double card. Then I die cut the sentiment in a black paper and I covered it with silver ink before adhering it on the card.

Dies : Simon Says Stamp “Lined trees”, Simply Graphic “set de Noel” (sentiment) – Inks: Distress “Cracked pistachio, peacock feathers”, HA “Unicorn pigment ink”, Tsukineko “Delicata Silver Shimmer” – Stencil : Uniko “In the forest″.

  1. Better late than never, eh! What a lovely selection, Izzy. Your snowboarding snowman is so adorable and I love the way you’ve contained the scene within the triangle. Great minds think alike with the central triangle tree and I’m loving the moose’s expression! xx

  2. Awesome trio of cards, Izzy! I just love each of them. The first is so adorable with the little snow person swooshing down the slope. Your moose is adorable and colored so wonderfully. I love that you used kraft for the base. I love that die cut tree on the third and that wonderful bunch of stamped trees in the aperture. Fantastic, all.

  3. Well Merry Kissmoose to you too! Love that triangle challenge – what a unique idea. And your moose fits the sketch perfectly. Thanks so much for playing with us at STAMPlorations CAS Cards Challenge too.

  4. Oh my, Izzy, I love all three wonderful cards! Your adorable little skiing snowman is beautifully placed within that narrow triangle. I love your clean and simple design and the colours. Simply beautiful! Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

  5. A fabulous trio, Izzy … and great use of the layouts! The ski scene you created for your little snowman is adorable … I laughed out loud at that fun, quirky moose under the mistletoe … and the single CAS Christmas tree is so fresh and crisp … yum! Bises et hugs, Anita 🙂

  6. A real fun card with Moose, many thanks for joining in our Traditional Christmas Colours theme at Stamping Sensations challenge.

Your triangle tree card for Penny Black and More is very pretty but afraid bot eligible as you say you used dies and stencils – we are a stamping challenge.

  7. Oh Izzy, those two first cards… SO CUTE! I love the moose, he looks very kissable to me! 🙂 And the miniature scene you put together in the first card is very skillfully made and full of cute details. The stylish third card is wonderfully CAS yet it has such an interesting look. Love the silver ink on the black sentiment! xxx

  8. Great assortment of your sketch challenges and love all the masking you did on the first card, that moose card is adorable and love the simplicity of the third card…great job on all. We are partnering with Cupcake Inspirations and would love you to check us out our current challenge “Bring on the Glitz” and/or future challenges at Double Trouble to see what Thing 1, 2 and 3 have up their sleeve.
