Bonjour !
Hello !
Last Sunday, I showed you the birth announcement (HERE) I made for my friend’s granddaughter. Today, as promised, I’m showing you the card I made for her first birthday.

Update: Happy and honoured to be one of the Top Picks at Ellibelle’s Crafty Wednesday Challenge.
I wanted to stay with the jungle, or at least savannah, animal theme and chose this adorable set of hippos.
Not knowing which hippopotamus to choose from this set because they are all so cute, I went for a Box Card which allowed me to use them all without making the card too busy.
Once again I followed the tutorial by Trina from Phamtastic Design which is very well done, and with step-by-step explanations supported by photos.
I started by creating the backgrounds, starting with the sky. On a white sheet of paper, I applied distress inks with a brush, then I stamped the birds and the tree with grey ink. On another piece of white paper, I created the body of water and the grass, still with distress inks. Then I stamped and embossed the sentiment.
Then I die cut three rows of grass out of green card stock. And on white card stock, I stamped the hippos, I coloured them with coloured pencils and I fussy cut them.

To finish, I put all the pieces together as mentioned in Trina’s tutorial.
I had a lot of fun making this card and I really like the result. The recipient is a little young, but the mother really liked the card !
