Bonjour !
Hello !
I’m back today with my second Surprise Party Guest for Seize the Birthday and this fortnight, the optional topping is “Be Inspired by a Book”.
For this challenge I had no trouble finding inspiration since some time ago I bought a set of stamps on the theme of the Little Prince that you all know, I’m sure. The author, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, spent part of his childhood in our city and went to school close to our home. So it was normal that I pay homage to him, right ?
Voici ma carte/ Here is my card
I started by making the background by aleatory stamping the stars and the planets directly on the double white card.
With a brush, I put some masking liquid on the stars and the planets. Once dry, I blended blue ink and yellow ink with a brush. Then I took off the masking liquid.
I die cut a large tag to make it a bookmark on which I stamped the Little Prince and his environment.
Once again I put some masking liquid on the images before blending inks to colour the background. Once taken off, I coloured the images with coloured pencils.
To finish, I adhered the bookmark with removable and repositionable adhesive pads (Patafix) so that the recipient of the card will be able to take it off and to use it in a book. I stamped and black heat embossed the sentiment.

Perfect use of the masking fluid to make this card. The colors look perfect as well as the scene. What a great homage to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry! Thank you for joining the Seize the Birthday challenge and sharing this card with us!
Gorgeous card and bookmark, Izzy, and I love that it has such a personal connection for you!
This is such a lovely card (and bookmark – clever!) and so cool that it has a tie to your home. I know there was such a thing as masking liquid ! I love your blending around the stars and planets.
I recognized the little prince straight away as it’s a favourite book from my childhood! Amazing that a stamp exists! You’ve coloured the card so beautifully too, thankyou for guesting with us, Cathy x
Izzy, this is a perfect scene and so beautiful that you celebrated someone close to your home! thank you so much for being a fabulous party guest, I look forward to seeing more inspiration from you next month too!
I love that you chose a book with special meaning to your area. Your illustrations really have the genuine feel of a book. Fabulous card Izzy!
What a creative and thoughtful idea! Including a koozie with a birthday card is such a unique way to make the recipient feel special. Not only will they receive a heartfelt message in the card, but they’ll also get a practical and fun gift with the koozie. It’s a perfect combination of sentiment and usefulness, making it a birthday surprise to remember. I can imagine the recipient enjoying their favorite beverage while reminiscing about the lovely card they received. Kudos to you for going the extra mile to make someone’s birthday extra special.
Oh yes, I remember this book from my daughter’s childhood. I didn’t know there was a stamp for The Prince. Your card is spot on for this challenge and so creative and inventive.
Very cute card! The soft colors go perfectly with that adorable image.
