CAS Mix Up October Challenge GD – Botanical Prints

Bonjour !

Hello !

I’m very happy and honoured to be the Guest Designer of Loll and her team for the October challenge over at CAS Mix Up !

This challenge is hosted by Bonnie and here is her message…

Bonnie’s Message
“This month I’d like you to find leaves, flowers, ferns, etc. from the yard and bring them into the craft room to use on a card.  You can put them between 2 pieces of watercolor paper and run them through the Big Shot, or use them on a gel plate, or even paint a leaf and press it onto cardstock.
I can’t wait to see what you do with what grows in your space!”

Voici ma carte / here is my card

Update: Happy and honoured to be one of the Top 3 at Creative Inspirations.

One more time I chose my favourite flower, hydrangea, on which I took two leaves. I had tried before with leaves of Sweet Gum tree but the veins are not marked enough and once inked the rendering was not as clear.

So I used Gina K. Designs‘ technique, I put Distress Oxide inks on the back of the leaves and I laid down them on a white wood card stock and I softly pressed with my fingers.

Once dry, I adhered this panel on a double dark red card. Then I die cut (x3) the word Hello and I glued it on the card.

To finish I stamped the other part of the sentiment in black.

I hope this card will inspire you to come and play. You can see all the inspirations from the talented design team HERE.

  1. I used to do this technique when I was kid. Didn’t think to bring it into cardmaking. Great idea. Thanks for joining the challenge at Crafty Gals Corner.

  2. Bonjour, Izzy!! I love your beautiful leaf prints! Such gorgeous colors for Autumn! Hydrangea leaves are my favorite of all! I know you would find many pressed among the pages of some of my biggest cookbooks! I have three bushes, and not one bloom – and I’m not even upset about it!
