Bonjour !
Hello !
How are you ? Have you seen the latest challenge #315 from Less is More ? It’s about a one layer card and the theme is Opposites attract. Well, this is with this challenge that I had fun doing my card today.
As soon as I saw the theme, I had two ideas, here is one for today and I hope to have time to make the second one. Like many of you, black and white are the first idea but above all the symbol of Yin (black = feminine part of the nature, the moon, the darkness, the receptivity…) & Yang (white = masculine part of the nature, the sun, the luminosity…) !
I wanted to embellish a little this symbol with one of my favourite stamps from Uniko that makes me think so! So I traced a circle with a compass and traced the shape of Yin and Yang inside. I colored the Yin with a black marker and then stamped the image on it with white ink. I stamped the same image on the other side in black but head to tail.
In order to add a little more of interest to the card, I stamped straight lines and lines with circles (2 opposite shapes too !). I just received today this stamp from Uniko, it couldn’t have come at a better time ! And then I can say a big thank you to the MISTI because without it I could never make lines as straight ! I do not know why, but I always thought that a monochrome card in black and white was masculine, and since I do not have much birthday card for men, I chose this sentiment both in cursive and capital letters (still opposites !).
To finish with the opposites, I rounded the upper right corner of the card with a puncher, in opposition to the right lower right angle ! And Voilà ! Looking at this card, I think it could also be very pretty with a gradient of colours….to follow….
Thank you for your visit and feel free to leave me a comment, I am always delighted to hear from you. See you soon I hope ! 😀

The yin and yang are so dramatic on your card, Izzy, and the border adds the perfect final touch. I’m so glad you shared your card with us at Addicted to Stamps and More.

Une autre carte/idée brillante de toi! Tu me surprends toujours avec tes très interprétations creatives! Superbe!
Merci beaucoup Susanne, tu vas me faire rougir !
You have included so many “opposites” in this card – it is really creative. I am not sure I have ever made a black and white card but they are definitely really striking and the stamps you used are perfect for this design. And a great card for those men in our lives who can be tricky to make cards for (and buy presents too if we are being honest)! Lisa xx
Thank you so much Lisa for your lovely words ! I totally agree with you, it is as difficult to make them a card as to buy them a present !
Merci beaucoup Gwendolyn !
Great! Amazing how wisely you used this stamp. It’s nice to be able to inspire your idea 🙂

Bon WE !

Izzy, you’re so clever! I love your (many) opposites – the corner one made me chuckle! The yin-yang is perfectly drawn and adding the inner stamping looks absolutely brilliant. The two fonts of the sentiment are perfect and the whole card has a really stylish, understated and classy look. Love it! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More 🙂
