Altenew – Fleurs de Dahlia / Dahlia blossoms (I)

Bonjour !

Hello !

Today I wanted to share with you a card I made for a special event. Last Tuesday we celebrated with my family, the 90 years of my aunt, and for the occasion, I wanted to make a beautiful birthday card she could hang on the wall of her room in the nursing home. So I opted for some flowers, which they do not fade!

As she hardly sees now, it was necessary that the colors were as showy as possible, so I played with shades of red and fuchsia. And it worked, she recognized that it was flowers!

To make this card I used different Distress inks and layering stamps. I started with the biggest flower, I then masked with a post-it to make the stem and leaves. Then I masked the left leaf to make the second flower, and so on to the right flower bud. I have dried with the heat gun before stamping the sentiment. Finally I adhered the image obtained on a double white card.

And Voilà ! Fortunately I have the MISTI which helps tremendously in this kind of project. I’m happy with this card and above all I know that it pleased my aunt!

  2. Beautiful card, Izzy! The colors and CAS design are gorgeous!! I think the purpose for your card underscores why I love to make my own cards…it’s deeply personal. I’m so happy your aunt recognized the flowers. I know it will bring such joy to her every day.

  3. Such a lovely gift for your aunt, and many happy returns to her on her 90th birthday! I know you chose the colours to help her see the flowers, but they work really well anyway. The bright, vibrant palette looks fantastic! Very neat masking too – I never get such precise edges. Great job!
