Carte/Card

Relax…mille souhaits

Bonjour !

Hello !

Mr Mojo is slow to show the tip of his nose but I still managed to make a card today. I combined several challenges to make a recovery card for my brother who has just had surgery and now needs to rest. It turns out that it’s also his birthday in 3 days! So, on a marine theme (so that he escapes in image) and in yellow-orange tones (its favorite color) here is my card …

The June challenge at CAS watercolour is “Ocean”, at Time OUT it is “Holidays”, and at Stamp, Ink, Paper it is “Summer fun !” so I have used a technique that Loll shares in THIS post (Thanks Loll !) to make the background. She calls this technique : Embedded Brushos Technique. For those who do not know yet Loll (I doubt there are many !), I invite you to admire her incredible talent HERE, I’m sure you’ll want to try a lot of techniques too!

So on watercolour paper, I sprinkled some Brushos pigments and I put this paper in an embossing folder in order to have the shell patterns. Then I sprayed water on it to mix the pigments. I dried and with a brayer I gently applied iridescent white ink (unfortunately we do not see on the picture !) on the embossed parts.

I die cut this panel and I adhered it onto a double white card. On another watercolour paper, I used the smooshing technique with orange ink and then I die cut the starfish and the word “relax”. I also mixed 2 Distress oxide inks on a paper, I splashed with water and I removed the excess water with a tissue, then I die cut the algae.

I cut the bubbles and flip flops in white paper. On the sole of the flip flops I stamped bubbles and I colored the strap in orange. Then to finish I glued the different elements on the double card and I stamped the sentiment “thousand wishes” in the inside of the card.

And Voilà ! I hope this card will cheer him up and that soon he will be OK to really rest at the sea !

  4. I love this card and I love the sound of this technique! But I feel totally stressed out – as there are so many things I would like to try and I just don’t get the time. The summery colours are brilliant, and fresh and everything that makes me happy! I do not have that iridescent white ink either – but that sounds fabulous! Izzy, I need some time! This card is sure to put a big smile on your brother’s face and I hope his recovery is quick and he can enjoy his birthday. Sending hugs to you and wishing you a fab weekend, Lisa xx

Et tu l’as utilisé à merveille !
    Bises.

  6. LOVE all the elements of this card Izzy! Great work with the embedded brushos … your background is AMAZING! Love the bright yellow and orange and then the white paint over top to highlight the raised design. Isn’t this a fun technique??!! Your collage of coral, starfish, bubbles and flip flops is so fun … this is sure to cheer up your brother! I love that this is an ocean card, but not done in blue. It is uniquely creative and SO FUN! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour. Best to your brother with his recovery! xx

  7. So much texture, depth and interest, Isabelle … and a gorgeous colour palette! I’d certainly love to escape here … and am certain your brother will too! Bon rétablissement a lui! Bises et hugs! Anita 🙂
