Less is More Week #358 – OLC Candles/Light

Bonjour !

Hello !

OMG, the time flies too fast and it’s already Saturday! So a new challenge at Less is More and this is the week of the famous One Layer Card and here is the theme …

… and I remind you that our sponsor for October is Happy Little Stampers.

A big cold this week let me knocked out so I will have only two cards to propose.

1/ Noël and its garland / Noël et ses guirlandes

Always in the spirit of Christmas, I illustrated this challenge with lights of all colours, it is exactly the type of garlands that we had at my parents when we were children!

I simply stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and the garlands and I coloured them first with Distress inks to do the halo (trick taken from my dear teammate Trina, see HERE) then I added more colour with markers. A small line of white gel pencil to show that they shine. It’s a simple and fast card to do !

Stamp: Lawn Fawn “’Winter Big Scripty Words” – Inks: Distress “Festive berries, Spiced marmalade, Mowed lawn, Salty Ocean, Ripe persimmon, Abandoned coral, Squeezed Lemonade, Wilted violet Picked raspberry, Twisted citron, shaded Lilac” – Makers: Fabrico “136, 115, 132, 114, 139, 137, 110, 122”, Papermate “Pink”, Staedtler “Orange”.

2/Meilleurs voeux

I started by dry embossing the frame with a square die. Then I stamped and heat embossed the layer of snow on the bench back, next I masked it to be able to stamp the bench. I also stamped and heat embossed the street lamp.

Then I made the light with yellow Distress ink, I masked it with a bit of Post-it. I masked the bottom part of the scene to make a a small hillock of snow. Then I masked all around the frame to be able to make the sky with Distress inks.

With a stencil and embossing paste, I made the snowflakes and to finish I brushed a bit of Wink of Stella over the hillock and the layer of snow of the bench to make them even more real.

I finished by stamping and heat embossing the sentiment with silver powder.

Personally I really like the result, even if there is a lot of manipulation to do, once you know what you want, it goes relatively quickly.

Honoured and Happy to be the winner at CASology !

Stamp: Lawn Fawn “’Winter in the park”, Simply Graphic “Planche bonheur et prospérité” (sentiment) – Inks: Distress “Salty Ocean, Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled glass, Broken china, Stormy sky” – Die: SSS “Stitched square” – Stencil: SSS “Falling snow” – Embellishment: Wink of Stella, Wendi Vecchi “Embossing paste”.
