Addicted to Stamps and More #425 – Die Cuts and Stencils

Bonjour !

J’espère que vous allez bien et que vous êtes prêt(e)s pour le nouveau défi chez Addicted to Stamps and More. Le thème pour cette quinzaine est…

Hello !

I hope you’re doing well and that you are ready for the new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More. The theme for this fortnight is…

This is about making a card using either stencils or cutting dies. As far as I’m concerned, I chose to use both !

Update: Happy and honoured to be one of the DT faves at Die Cut Divas.

Although I’ve already published a post with a Box Card (see HERE), this is actually my very first Box Card that I made for my daughter’s birthday.

When the good weather is there, she really likes to go cycling with her friends. Unfortunately, she had her bike stolen on New Year’s Eve ! So her birthday present was quickly found. As we wanted her to choose it, for D-Day, I had made this card that I had put in an envelope that said “Gift voucher for…”.

To make this card, I followed the tutorial from Trina of Phamtastic Design. Really well done with her step by step explanations supported by pictures. All you have to do is choose your theme and adapt it.

As I knew she wanted a basket to be able to put her stuffs without carrying them on her back, I then thought of a basket full of flowers after a ride in the countryside.

So I die cut two rows of grass out of a scrap of a Brushos background I had made for THIS card. Then in white card stock, I die cut all the little flowers which I then coloured with Zig brush markers.

In a white card stock I die cut the bicycle and the basket and I coloured them with colour pencils.

For the background image, I first stamped the horizon line with the trees. I masked underneath and I used a stencil to make the cloudy sky.

I coloured the trees and the field with colour pencils, as well as the little cat (she also loves cats !).

For the box card base, I brushed two shades of Distress oxide inks and I stamped the sentiment. I couldn’t help myself and add this adorable bunny which holds a flower.

To finish, I put all the pieces together as mentioned in Trina’s tutorial.

When collapsed, it fits easily into an envelope.

Et voilà ! She loved the card and the bike was chosen and already used ! And do not forget to go and see the wonderful inspirational cards of my teamies on the main blog HERE and on their respective blog where you can leave them a nice comment ! 😉
