Less is More #383 – Dimension

Bonjour !

Hello !

Ready for a new challenge ? Today at Less is More we ask you to put “Dimension” on your card but keeping it CAS of course.

For this fortnight we are lucky to have as our Guest Designer the talented Claire of String Bows who was our August winner. I invite you to visit her blog where you can admire her beautiful CAS cards and since you’re there, thank you for leaving her a nice comment.

Uniko is still our sponsor and if you go on the blog you will discover a part of the new release (introduction days in progress since thursday) that will be available from Tuesday at 9:00 pm (BST). If you are preparing your cards for the end of the year, sure you will enjoy ! …

To challenge myself a little bit more with this theme, I decided to make OLC cards but I will show you how to add dimension to them.

1/ Happy Birthday (using sponsor’s products)

To put dimension on a OLC card you can of course use layering stamps. Here I used glimmer paste.

The colors that came to my mind immediately are those of autumn. Just as chrysanthemum is THE seasonal flower. With a stencil I made a gradient in shades of yellow / orange / red with Distress inks. I let it dry then I put some glimmer paste over it. Once dry I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. Difficult to see the pretty bright reflections on the picture, they remind me of the dew.

There are other paste to give dimension such as the embossing paste or the texture paste.

Stencil: Uniko “Pure florals: Chrysanthemum” – Distress Inks : “Fired brick, Spiced marmalade, Mustard seed, Squeezed lemonade ” – Stamp : Uniko “Pure florals: Chrysanthemum” (sentiment) – Embellishment: Nuvo “Glimmer paste”.

2/ Love you to the moon and back

On this card, although everything is flat, the dimension is given not only with the masking technique that allows to apply different tones on the same area but also with the shadow created around the image.

I get inspired by the ongoing AAA cards challenge and Trina‘s gorgeous card. I remembered that last year I had won this adorable stamp on Ksenija’s blog and it was the perfect opportunity to use it.

I first stamped the image on a double white card and then on a post-it. I fussy cut the post-it all around the image and I stuck it over the stamped image of the card. I put two masking tape stripes between which I blended the inks to make the sky and the halo around the moon.

I took off the masking tapes as well as the post-it note and I coloured the image with colour pencils. With three grey shades I drew the shadow around the moon which gives an embossed look. And to finish I stamped the sentiment (a memory of one of the stories I read to my children!) and I brushed a bit of Wink of Stella on the moon.

Stamp : Penny Black “Birthday baby”  – Inks : Altenew “Sapphire, Persian blue, Caribbean sky” – Pencils : Faber-Castell polychromos “#103, 132, 107, 117, 219, 225, 230, 231, 232, 192” – Embellishment  : Zig “wink of stella”.

Update : Happy and honoured to be one of the honourable addicts at Addicted to Stamps and More

For this last card, the dimension is given with the die embossing, heat embossing and a touch of Nuvo Crystal Drops.

I was inspired by the inspirational photo of the Addicted to stamps and More challenge: the window, the flowers, the yellow and the black. I first die embossed the double card (used with a silicon mat, the die does not cut the paper) then I stamped and heat embossed the flower and the sentiment.

The final touch : a touch of Nuvo Crystal Drops on the heart of the flower !

Stamp : Uniko “Flower Power #7″ & “Simply said blocks II” – Die : Mama Elephant “Framed tags – hug it out” – Embellishment  : Nuvo Crystal Drops “English mustard”.

  1. Absolutely love all of these, Izzy. The chrysanthemum is stunning with the addition of the glimmer paste. The shading and fading around the moon makes the image really pop off the page. And the flower in the debossed frame is right up my street. Three fabulous examples xx
