Less is More Week #348 – Watercolour

Bonjour !

Hello !

I hope that you had a great week ! Here we are at the end of September, unbelievable ! More over, today it’s also the fifth Saturday of the month, which means that it is a special challenge at Less is More ! But you are lucky because it’s about making a CAS card including watercolour !

And to top it off, we are very pleased to have with us this week the talented Jane of Purplejet Love Crafts as a Guest Designer. I’m sure you all already know Jane and her wonderful CAS creations, and if not, then do not wait another second to visit her blog and fill up with inspiration!

1/ Meilleurs voeux / Best wishes

I moistened a watercolour paper with a brush and water and I sprinkled a Brusho on top, that I then spread with a brush.

I dried with the heat gun and then I placed a stencil on it. I sprayed water with a mixture of Perfect pearls over it, I waited a little and I removed the excess moisture with a paper towel. Then I let it dry.

On a double white card, I stamped and I heat embossed the sentiment. Once the watercolour background was dried, I adhered it onto the double card. I die cut the snowflakes border in a white cardstock and I adhered it onto the watercolour background.

Stamp: Florilège “bonne santé” (sentiment) – Watercolour: Brushos “ultramarine” – Die : Memory Box “Frosty border” – Stencil : Carta Bella “Snowflakes”.

2/ Joyeux Anniversaire / Happy Birthday

I have a friend who celebrates his birthday next week and he is an orchids lover. I know that this stamp, NBUS one by the way since I kept it for his birthday, is not an orchid but a freesia but I think I will appreciate it anyway.

On a watercolour paper, I stamped and I heat embossed the image. Then I used Distress inks to colour this freesia. I love how the inks mix together.

Then I stamped and I heat embossed the sentiment. I die cut the watercolour paper and the double black card with a die to give them this rounded shape on the 2 angles. To finish, I adhered the image onto the double card.

Stamp: Altenew “fresh freesia”, Simply Graphic “planche anniversaire” (sentiment) – Watercolour: Distress inks “Shabby shutters, Mowed lawn, Spiced marmalade, Fired brick, Mustard seed” – Die : Spellbinders “5×7 modern stationery” – Embellishment : Silver pearl.

I remembered a card that I love made by Nicole Picadura from Scraps & Stamps and I decided to CASE it. It is obvious that her card is much prettier but I will try again when I have real watercolour paints (part of my endless wish list!). And if you want to please your eyes, go and see Nicole’s blog!

I moistened a watercolour paper with a brush and water and with Distress inks I made a kind of splashes.

Once dried, I die cut the word Hello (NBUS !). Then I die cut (x3) these letters in black cardstock. I adhered them together to give them more dimension.

I foam mounted the watercolour paper and I adhered it onto the double card. To finish, I glued each black letter into the die cuts.

Watercolour: Distress inks “Peacock feathers, Twisted citron, Shaded Lilac, Picked raspberry” – Die : Hero Arts “Luggage tag alphabet frame”.

4/ Hello (again !)

I was not going to throw away those pretty letters that were left from the previous cut!

I simply glued the letters on a double white card and I just added the “splashes” with a stamp (also NBUS !) with the same colours.

There is no simpler and faster to do I think.

Watercolour: Distress inks “Peacock feathers, Twisted citron, Shaded Lilac, Picked raspberry” – Die : Hero Arts “Luggage tag alphabet frame” – Stamp : MFT “abstract art.

The shade of blue on the first one is among my favorite colors so, of course, I adore the background you created and paired with this delicate die cut! Gorgeous card!
The freesia is beautifully colored and the two HELLO cards are so much fun! I’ll have to try this!

  7. Izzy you are on fire with creativity this week! What a stunning and exquisite bundle of goodies you’ve shared. Watercolour superb on each of them. I love that delicious blue background on the first with the stencilled snowflakes – the die-cut flakes pop magnificently against it. The elegant bloom on the second is beautiful in those fiery colours and your 2 versions of the hello card are total beauties and clever you not throwing away those watercolour scraps. Just awesome! Have a great week xx

  8. Izzy, there’s no stopping you! What a selection of fabulous makes. Your snowflake card is gorgeous, I just love blue and white for Christmas. Your warm coloured freesia is so pretty, love the effect you created with your colours and how the rounded corners echo the curve of the flowers too. And the last two, just fab, and suitable for anyone! xx

  9. Wow Izzy, you’ve been one busy watercolorer! 🙂 Beautiful cards, all so creative an Izzy-looking! My favorite is your second card I think -that white heat embossed flower with your vivid use of color looks absolutely stunning. Also the blue “sky” in your first card looks so beautiful, artsy and interesting. Great job with all 4 cards!

  10. Four beauties from you, Izzy! Your snowflake Brusho card reminds me very much of the fabulous style of Loll! I’m sure your beautiful freesia will be gratefully received by the orchid lover, and your two hello cards are nothing short of delightful!! Thank you so much for your lovely words of support and friendship and thank you for playing in my NBUS Challenge #12! Hugs, Darnell

  11. Love the technique on your first card and the shine from the spray mist. Great water colouring on the second card and they sure are going to love it! Contemporary third and fourth card and great to get two cards out of the die cut sentiment. You’ve spoilt us today with the four cards, thank you x

  12. Wow! You were on fire this week Izzy! What an amazing collection of cards. I’ve been waiting to find out how you made that fab background on the first card and I’ll definitely be trying that technique out soon too. Your orchid/freesia is absolutely divine in those beautiful colours. Haha! I saw your third card and smiled – we must have been on a similar wavelength this week. I initially thought you’d blown the watercolours through a straw – but no, I was wrong. That is a magnificent effect though. And your 4th card is a fab way to make sure to use all the scraps. Love them all. Have a great week.
