Less is More Week #330 – Shimmer

Bonjour !

Hello !

A week has gone already ! It’s Saturday again, which means a new challenge to Less is more and this week the theme is Shimmer.

Here is what I propose you this week.

1/ Jingle Bells (using sponsor images)

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the word Shimmer, are all the sceneries to illustrate Christmas. And from that point I created this card ! I’ve tried to use the maximum of “things” that can give shimmer on a card.

First of all the double card is a white iridescent paper. I stamped the various elements with Brilliance ink which has the particularity of having a slight shimmer. On the ribbon I put glitter powder as well as on the edges of the card, and finally I put a little bit of Stickles in the heart of the flower (unfortunately we do not see well on the photo).

Stamp: UNIKO “Jingle Bells” – Inks: Altenew “Evergreen, Ruby red, Coral berry”, Brilliance “Rocket red, Lightning black” – Stickles: Dry fine Glitter “Diamond” and liquid Stickles “Diamond”

2/ Je pense à toi /I think of you (using sponsor images)

For this second card I wanted to try a technique of Jennifer Mc Guire that consists in using Perfect Pearls powder with multi-layered stamps. Simply dab the first layer with Versamark ink and spread over Perfect Pearls powder with a brush. Since the ink is sticky, the powder remains. When you are dabbing the second layer, always with Versamark ink, the powder stays on the stamp and not on the paper. For the third layer, an ink slightly darker than the paper is used. This technique works especially well on dark colored papers.

Stamp: UNIKO “Beautiful blooms III”, Artemio “Textes manuscrits”- Inks: Versamark, Memento Luxe “Sweet Plum”, StaZon “Royal purple” – Embellishment: Ranger “Perfect Pearls”

3/ Merci (using sponsor images)

This card, I made it for you all, who since 1 year (opening of this blog) have supported me and encouraged through all your great comments! Thank you so much for all the inspiration that each of your blogs brings me day after day, it is thanks to all of you that I am here today!

For this last card, I used again a technique from Jennifer Mc Guire (Thanks Jennifer !). This time the technique consists in using a Wink of Stella brush (or Spectrum Noir) to colour on Vellum. I stamped the image with Versamark ink and I heat embossed with white powder. I started to colour each petal with a Fabrico marker then I moved the colour around with the Wink of Stella brush. It makes like watercolouring and leaves a shimmer layer!

Stamp: UNIKO “Pure Florals: Lily” – Inks: Versamark – Markers: Tsukineko Fabrico “#115 Cherry pink, #161 Burgundy” – Embellishments: Hero Arts embossing powder “White”, Wink of Stella brush “Clear”.

  3. Three beautiful cards, and unique ways to put shimmer on a card. I did the recent class of Jennifer’s called Sparkle and Shine and perfect pearls was used there too. Such a pretty medium! I have tried the sparkle on vellum in a slightly different way but isn’t it so pretty! Your cards are a gorgeous design as always Izzy. Thank you so much for sharing them with us :-), hugs Lisa xx

Delighted to have you playing along with us at Time Out! J’espere que tu as passé un bon WE! Bises, Anita 🙂

  7. WOW! Izzy you’ve worked so much magic on these creations and showcased how versatile the Uniko sets are. Loving all that shimmer and sparkle for your Christmas card, fantastic use of Jennifer’s technique on the second one … must remember that idea as it looks brilliant with this set. Then the lillies! Hey they are my all-time favourite bloom and you’ve coloured and designed this card to perfection. So much inspiration and thanks so much! Have a great week. x

  8. Three awesome cards, Izzy! All great examples of achieving shimmer. You did an amazing job watercolouring with your shimmer pen on your last card. It’s absolutely stunning and that image is perfect for this technique. Have a wonderful weekend.

  9. Well I can assure you that these 3 cards absolutely inspire me! Especially your second, for two reasons: 1) I had completely forgotten about this fun, very effective technique and 2) I have this stamp set and am not at all good at layering these, you have done fantastic job! Now I just need to pin your card for future reference. 🙂 Also your third card is so fantastic -I have never tried this coloring technique and definitely want to try. Thanks for all inspiration and thanks for joining us at TIME OUT! 🙂

  10. Gorgeous cards, Izzy! Three total beauties here <3 I love the traditional Christmas colours on the first card which looks so festive. Well done on getting a head start!! The technique on the second card is stunning – that shimmer is awesome! Your third card is a knockout with the delicate lines of the lily and the shimmery pale pink. So beautiful and elegant… perfect. Have a fab weekend x

  11. You have created some beautiful cards with your Uniko goodies, Izzy! I love all of the ways you have used shimmer on your Christmas card and the perfect pearls on your second card is a great technique. The lily looks amazing – so fresh and delicate with the added shimmer. So many great ideas to enjoy here! Enjoy your weekend xx

  12. Wow! Such incredible creations Izzy! The traditional look on your first card is super and those brilliance inks really are perfect for this recipe (wish I’d remembered I have some of those too lol). Your second card is a real eye-catcher and the colours are incredibly impactful. What a wonderful technique to use – I’ve not heard of that one so will have a play trying it out too. But your lilies are delicate, enchanting and exquisite. Such an incredibly beautiful card xx

  13. Wow, three fabulous cards here Izzy. And well done on getting started with a Christmas card. I used to use lots of pearlescent card bases but don’t seem to so much any more, but this looks great with all the other added shimmer and sparkle. I must try the technique with the perfect pearls, I remember watching the video and this looks lovely with the lilac shades. But wow, your lily card is an absolute stunner, so gorgeous and a great effect with the sparkle and vellum. Awesome inspiration this week xx
