Less is More #428 – Shades of purple

Bonjour !

Hello !

It’s a new challenge that starts today at Less is More with a theme on shades of purple.

Voici mes cartes / Here are my cards

As it is never too early to start with Christmas cards, I took my inspiration to make my card from the theme “Christmas tree” of the new challenge over at CAS Christmas.

As the slimline cards are now trendy, I chose this format. I don’t have any die of this size, so I used a standard rectangular die but I cut my card stock in two steps to obtain the right length.

The first fir is stamped and embossed in white. Then I masked the edges of the card to apply a very light layer of purple that goes fading upwards.

Then I stamped a purple fir over the embossed fir, then I shifted a bit the card to stamp the two other firs (second and third generation stamping) but without inking back the stamp, so that they look softer.

To finish I made the falling snow with a white gel pen and I stamped the sentiment on a strip of Vellum and I adhered it on the card.

Stamp: IO “Fir tree D1293” & Simply Graphic “Planche voeux assortis” (sentiment) – Inks: Distress “Wilted violet, Dusty concord”, Altenew “Deep iris” – Die: MFT “Stitched mini scallop rectangle”.

For this second card I get inspired by the CAS Mix Up challenge where they ask you to emboss with dies.

So I took a scrap of multimedia paper on which I put a die of a violet and I put it through my big shot. Then I turned back the paper and I put a square and scalloped die and I put it through the machine again. I thus have the pattern of the flower which emerges on the top while the pattern of the frame is “printed” towards the inside.

Then I watercolored the flowers with Zig pens and a brush. As I missed a flower to emboss this violet, I took one of the tiny die to cut one bloom that I also watercolored and glued.

I adhered the image on a double purple card and I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment.

I hesitated to present this card to you but as I’ve made it … To be honest, I first made this card before the previous one because I wanted to try die embossing on Vellum paper. Let’s say that for the flowers it’s correct on the other hand when I wanted to emboss the frame the Vellum was cut slightly. So I cut a frame in white paper to put on top while wanting to keep the Vellum paper that protrudes (this may be the error!). But once stuck on the double card the Vellum paper began to curl. To be done differently then!

  2. Ooh, I am loving all this purple, Izzy! Each of these cards is fantastic and perfectly CAS! Great job on coloring the embossed violets! So dainty and pretty! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

  3. You took the purple and went to town with it, all of your cards are stunning, but I must say I am partial to your slimline purple Christmas trees. Those are gorgeous and so striking! Thank you for joining us at CAS Christmas!

  5. Love your purple and white Christmas trees and beautiful skinny card design, Izzy. Your 2nd card was perfect for the CAS Mix Up Stencil Challenge…embossing with dies. So pleased you joined us at CAS Mix Up. Both cards were wonderful Clean and Simple designs and loved your use of the vellum for a pretty elegant look. TFS Hugs..Nancy

  7. Lovely, lovely cards Izzy, but I am especially smitten with your Christmas Tree card…I just love the purple shading surrounded by all that white! Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with us at CAS Christmas!! :0)

  8. Beautiful design with your white embossed tree with purple trees in the background. It’s a gorgeous card Izzy and so perfectly CAS! Both of your embossed with die cards are fabulous. The first one with the double embossing really shows off those flowers. The second card with the vellum is beautiful and dreamy (as vellum always looks). I think the vellum outside of the square frame looks fabulous. It adds some depth and dimention. Thanks for sharing your cards with us at CAS Christmas and CAS Mix Up! xx
