Less is More Week #351 – Monsters

Bonjour !

Hello !

I hope you had a good week and that you’re on top form for our new and creepy challenge at Less is More ! We would like to see MONSTERS on your cards !

Notre sponsor ce mois-ci est Uniko. / Our sponsor for this month is Uniko.

Voici 3 cartes pour vous inspirer. / Here are 3 cards to inspire you.

1/ Happy Birthday

My daughter was invited last week-end at a Birthday party and she wanted a card for her friends to sign in for their friend who was celebrating. Then I created this card with Uniko stamps which are originally flowers, but by diverting a little bit their use, I managed to make some rather nice monsters !

On a black cardstock, I stamped the white polka dots and I die cut it to make the border on the left side. I adhered it over the double white card.

I stamped the different shapes in three colours and I added different elements in black to make the face. And to give life to these monsters, I just added googly eyes. They are foam mounted.

To finish, I stamped the sentiment over the double card.

Stamp: Uniko “Background blocks : Scattered polka dots”, “Uniko style” and “Simply said blocks” (sentiment) – Embellishment: googly eyes – Inks: Distress “Twisted citron, Spiced marmalade, Shaded lilac” – Die: MFT “Stitched scallop basic edges”.
Challenges:
Cards in Envy : Let’s play dress up (Hallowween costumes)

2/ Sorry

For this card I’ve been inspired by three current challenges : Color Throwdown for the colours, Freshly Made Sketches for the sketch and CASology for the sentiment.

When we bought our house, our son was 18 months’ old and before moving in, we had repainted his bedroom. Few months after moving in, while we were preparing his bath, we found him drawing on his bedroom wall with Crayola crayons ! It is this memory that inspired me for this card!

On a double white card, I stamped the brushed line and the splatters in black. Then I stamped the sentiment “Sorry” with Versamark and I heat embossed with white powder. The rest of the sentiment is stamped with Distress ink.

On a white cardstock I stamped the monster and I fussy cut it. Then I foam mounted it on the double card.

And voilà an easy and quick card, I had a lot of fun doing it !

Stamp: MFT “Abstract art” and “More Monsters” – Inks: Distress “Wilted violet”, Versafine “Onyx black”.
Challenges:
Color Throwdwon #465 : Purple/black/white
Freshly Made Sketches #309
CASology week 271 : Sorry

3/ Joyeux Anniversaire

Again, it’s a challenge which inspired me for the last card : Fusion Card Challenge both for the sketch and for the colours …

On a white cardstock I stamped the striped background and I fussy cut it to make a strip like on the sketch. This striped strip is for the stripes of the wreath of the inspiration picture. I adhered it over a double white card.

On another cardstock, I stamped the monster and I added a balloon to illustrate the two circles of the sketch. Then I coloured it in green. I masked the outer outlines of the balloon and I stained it with distress ink. Before it was dry, I applied Perfect Pearl powder to illustrate the silvered and shiny skull on the photo. Then I stamped my sentiment in black ink. Then I fussy cut the image and I foam mounted it over the double card.

Then to finish, I just added some black drops of Novo Crystal Drops.

Stamp: Uniko “Wonky Stripes”, Woodware “JGS456” and HLS “simply said” – Inks: Distress ” Hickory smoke”, Versafine “Onyx black” – Marker: Fabrico “#110 Green apple”.
Challenges:
Fusion Card Challenge : Striped Wreath
AAA #101: Inspired by a film – (It reminds me Monsters)
Addicted to Stamp and More #264 : CAS
Seize the Birthday : Anything goes

  4. Wow, Isabelle … what a fabulous trio! The sense of energy and vibrancy in the green one is fantastic … that’s such a sweet story to go with the purple cutie (and a happy memory, even if it wasn’t at the time!) … and I love how you made those adorable monsters on the first, they’re positively pretty in their bright outfits and googly eyes! Bonne semaine! Hugs & bises, Anita 🙂

  5. All three of your cards are brilliant, Izzy! The flowers turned into monsters on the first card are so clever! The wild eyed monster on the last card made me giggle. And I need a stack of the second card to keep on hand to give out when I’m grumpy! Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!

  6. I love your creativity, turning those flowers into monsters! Awesome way to stretch your stamps. Love the googley eyes too. And I guess great minds do think alike. Your purple monster card paired with your story about your son made me smile. Your cards this week are all so adorable. Great job! Have a wonderful week. xx

  7. You are so clever! Turning your floral stamps into monsters – they really do look great with their googly eyes! Such an innovative way to use them – I always love to see people stretching their supplies to make something completely different. So much fun! And the story of your son drawing on the wall 😱 Too funny! I bet you weren’t too amused at the time :-). And I thought you had just cut a banner from patterned paper for your third card, I should have known better that you would create it yourself. As always love all your great cards, where do you find the time to make 3?!

  8. Tu as cree des cartes tres amusantes! Mais aussi CAS. L’achat a Port Sunlight t’a servie bien! Tres mignon. Gros bises

  9. Three great, but super cute, monster cards, Izzy! I especially love the card you made for CASology and the story that went with it. I think every child must do this at some point! For us, our son decided to draw on the hall wall with waterproof mascara I had left on the bathroom counter!! Hugs, Darnell

  10. Great way to make double use of your stamps by using flower stamps and turning them into cute monsters. Thanks for this idea, I will keep this in mind. Also, love the French and the translation below. Give me a chance to brush up on my French. Thanks for sharing with us at Seize the Birthday. Hope to see you again.

  11. What fun inspiration on your first card to use the flowers as monsters. Great memory on your second card and your own really cute monster x Love the colours and layout on your third card. Love all three of them and thank you for the fabulous inspiration x

  12. Izzy you are on fire with these cheeky monster cards! So inspired by how you’ve changed the Uniko flower into a cute monster – perfect idea and it’s worked a treat! Love the little story behind your second card which really made me giggle. What a brilliant example to remind your son! Lastly you’ve pulled in all those challenges so seamlessly to make a superb eye-popping monster card. So much fun in this post and hope you have a fun week too. xx

  13. Your trio of monster cards are a triumph Izzy! What a BRILLIANT idea to use flowers as the base for your monsters on your first card (wish I’d thought of that!). They work a treat. I had to laugh at your second card – I remember so well when my kids used to draw on walls too. Ha Ha! Your little monster on that card looks suitably ashamed. And your third card is so happy – that little monster looks like it is jumping for joy. Such wonderful inspiration. Hope your week is awesome xx
