January 2018 Design Team Blog Hop

Bonjour,

Hello,

and welcome to the January DT Blog Hop at Uniko. For this month, Bev (owner and founder of Uniko) asked us to choose our favourite product released in 2017. Very difficult choice not to say impossible ! So I allowed myself to make a choice among my favorites ….

PURE FLORALS

I love all the PURE FLORALS collection : Cosmos, Poinsettia, Chrysanthemum, Gerbera and the two of the year 2017 Lily and Rose.

1/ Lily

It’s a pleasure to colour those stamps, either with watercolour, with markers or with colour pencils. Here I played with Watercolour Brush pens.

I simply stamped the image on watercolour paper with Versamark ink and I white heat embossed. Then I simply played with the colours.

To finish I stamped and I heat embossed the sentiment, that I took from the “Pure Florals : Chrysanthemum” set, over a stripe of Vellum that I adhered to the back of the image, then I foam mounted it over a double card. Three sequins and voilà !

Update : Happy and honoured to be one of the Outstanding Designs at CAS Watercolour

2/ Rose

In December, it is with a great please that I discover another wonder from this collection : the rose !

One of my friends has just had surgery and I wanted to tell her that we really think about her. For this card I cased the beautiful inspiration card of the Muse challenge, created by my wonderful teamie Anita. I urge you to see her gorgeous creations on her blog.

On a double dark-red (burgundy) card, I stamped in the two opposite corners the little rose of the set and few leaves with Versamark and I gold heat embossed.

Then I coloured the inside of the roses and the leaves with colour pencils. To finish, I stamped the sentiment (from the “Flower Power #6” set) and I gold heat embossed it.

Happy and honoured to be one of the Featured Members at Muse !

Stamps:  Uniko “Pure Florals: Rose”, “Flower Power #6” (sentiment) – Color Pencils: Polychromos “#132, 130, 194, 171, 166, 167” – Embellishment: Simon Says Stamp “Antique gold” embossing powder.

BACKGROUND BLOCK

During the year 2017 Bev has designed a number of Background blocks stamps. This kind of stamps is very versatile and very convenient to quickly make a nice card for any occasion! One of my favorites is the Flower Doodle Background Blocks.

3/ Background blocks Doodle Flower

Lately I like very much to play with inks/pigments and water and I thought that this stamp would be ideal ! For this card I’ve been inspired by a card that my friend Lisa from My Card Trip has recently posted and above all by the technique she uses : Block Watercoloring. Again, I urge you to visit her blog and her beautiful cards!

On an acrylique block I lay down some three Distress inks and I spritzed over some water. Then I put the block down onto a watercolour card and I let the paper soak in ink by putting something heavy on it.

I let it dry then I stamped with Versamark the Doodle Flowers background and I white heat embossed it. The stamp being smaller than the watercolored panel, I die cut the image and I made a small frame with the rest of the panel.

I foam mounted the frame and the image on a double white card. For the sentiment, I die cut the word “happy” in a paper previously watercoloured with pink, then I stamped the word “Birthday” (“happy succulents” set) and I white heat embossed it. I flat glued the two words.

Happy and honoured to be one of the Watercooler Rockers !

Stamps:  Uniko “Background Blocks Doodle Flowers”, “Happy Succulents” (sentiment) – Distress:  “Mustard seed, Worn Lipstick, Picked raspberry” – Die: Stamplorations “happy”.

DESIGNER DIES

Until now the cutting dies were those that go with the matching stamps, but in October we had the good fortune to have a gorgeous trio of Snowflakes, ideal for making the end of the year cards !

4/ Snowflake trio

I couldn’t help but playing again with Brushos to make this watercolour background, perfect to highlight the gorgeous glittery white snowflake !

I sprinkled Brushos over a Plastic Wrap and I spritzed over some water mixed with Perfect Pearls powder. I layed down the watercolour paper over it, I crumpled a little bit the Plastic Wrap and I let everything dry over the night.

I die cut a window in a white cardstock and I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment (“Festive Sentiments” set). With the same die, I die cut a square in the watercolored paper. In a glitter adhesive sheet I die cut the snowflake.

On a double white card, I foam mounted the window and the watercolored paper. Then I adhered the snowflake over it. And voilà !

Stamps:  Uniko “Festive sentiments” – Brushos:  “ost. blue” – Die: Uniko “Snowflake Trio”, SSS “Stitched square”.
