Nouvel An chinois 2017 / Chinese New Year 2017

Bonjour !

Hello !

Today is a special day for our Asian friends : it is the first day of the Chinese New Year also called the Spring Festival ! It is the first day of the lunar calendar. This year it is the year of the Rooster !

I dedicate this card to my Taïwanese friends who celebrate today this beginning of year and this for 15 days until the day of the lanterns and its feast of light which marks the end of the festivities of the Chinese New Year.

On a double red card, I stamped some peonies because it is the typical flower which is on the taiwanese fabric. As I do not have a stamp with a rooster, I first stamped on a white paper a motif from Uniko and then I cut it with a rooster die.

I also die cut the black, gold and white squares that I glued to each other. On the white square I adhered the rooster image. I embossed a strip of black paper with a motif that is often found in Asia, then I made an assembly of little Chinese coins and golden thread that I then fixed on this black strip before adhering it on the red card. Then I adhered the squares in the middle of this strip with adhesive foam.

The choice of the colours is not insignifiant. Red is the typical colour for the Chinese New Year. It announces a happy event and it is also a symbol of prosperity and happiness.

The gold colour is a symbol of nobility and wealth. Just like the small coins, the gold on the card means that we wish plenty of wealth for this new year.

The black colour here is the symbol of strength, nobility and honesty. And it is also a colour that goes very well with red ! 😉

Et voilà ! Xin Nian Kuaile (Bonne année) mes amies !

And Voilà ! Xin Nian Kuaile (Happy new year) my friends ! A lot fo happiness, health and wealth for this new year !

  1. Joyeux nouvel an chinois à toi aussi!
