Carte/Card

Gerda Steiner – It’s time for cake !

Bonjour !

Hello !

After the Christmas cards, here is a card that reminds of the summer holidays ! This summer we went on vacation with our friends and we were able to admire the Corsican marine fauna while snorkeling. At the beginning of October it was our friend’s birthday and in memory of these wonderful moments spent together, I sent him this card.

Update: Happy and honoured to be one of the Rockers at Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

It was also an opportunity to use this adorable set that I had since this summer without having played with it yet.

I first cut a panel of watercolour paper with the same size as my slimline card. I stamped and I white heat embossed the waves at the top of the card. Then I stamped the images to colour, I dried them with the heat gun before applying masking liquid on top.

I die cut two scraps of masking paper to make the sandy seabed, then I adhered them on the watercolour paper.

On my work surface I put blue Distress ink, I sprayed with water then I put my watercolor paper on top (the smooshing technique). I repeated the operation until I was satisfied with the result. I removed the masking papers and I made the seabed with a brush and Distress inks.

Once the watercolour paper dry, I removed the masking liquid with my finger. Well, I admit that on watercolour paper it is not ideal since I had a hard time to take it off. I coloured the fish, the octopus, the coral and the cake with a brush and Distress inks.

To finish, I stamped the sentiment in black and the little silhouettes with blue ink. Then I adhered my watercolour panel on the double white card.

Even if we haven’t seen such a cake or this yellow fish, we have indeed seen a small octopus and a sunfish !
