Voici mes cartes / Here are my cards

1/ Happy Birthday (using sponsor stamp)

Update : So happy and honoured to have the Birthday honours at Seize the birthday

For this card I used a brand new product (for me !). These are Gilding Flakes, they are “flakes” of metallic foil very very thin.

This card is a first for me. Although the use is simple, I still need practice.

On a double brown card, I stamped the butterfly and the sentiment with Versamark. Then I heat embossed with a special powder which remains sticky. I put the flakes on top of it and I rubbed with my finger so that they adhere to the glue. Then I removed the extra flakes with a stencil brush.

To finish I coloured the butterfly with colour pencils.

Stamp : HLS “Butterfly birthday” – Embellishment: Nuvo “Gilding flakes” – Pencils : Faber-Castell Polychromos ‘ #102, 106, 108, 109, 111, 113, 115, 118, 121″.

Seize the Birthday #154 – CAS-Clean and Simple

2/ Skatin’ by to say Hi (using sponsor’s stamp & die)

Update : Happy and honoured to be one of the top 3 favourites at CAS on Friday

For this card I used mirror paper. As I had in hand a stamps set from Happy Little Stampers, this cute little penguin tantalised me and I decided to make it slide on the ice.

I first die cut a window in a white card stock. I drew with a pencil the outline of the opening on a double white card where I blended Distress inks to make the turquoise background.

I die cut a slab of ice in turquoise mirror paper and I stamped on it the matching stamp with Stazon Opaque ink. I die cut the snow mound and I die cut the slab of ice in it and replaced it with the one in mirror paper.

I adhered the snow mound on the double white card and I foam mounted the panel with the window. To finish, using masking technique, I stamped the penguin with its scarf and its ice skates, then I coloured it with colour pencils. I fussy cut it and I adhered it to the slab of ice.

Stamp : HLS “Snow friends & die” – Die: MFT “Stitched arch”, SSS “Stitched slopes & hills” – Pencils : Faber-Castell Polychromos ‘ #154, 156, 157, 247, 113, 230, 231, 251″.

For this last card I used 3 different colours of embossing powder to metalize die cuts : gold, silver and copper.

I simply die cut different branches, I covered them with Versamark and I put embossing powder. I repeated these steps 3 times on each branch to give even more dimension.

I stamped the poinsettia with a first layer in beige and a seconde layer in gold (hard to see on the picture) and I fussy cut it. Then I stamped and gold heat embossed the sentiment on a die cut Vellum label.

To finish, I mounted everything on a double black card with glue and glue dots.

Stamps : Clearly Besotted “Peaceful poinsettia”, Simply Graphic “planche voeux assortis” (sentiment) – Die: IO“pine branch”, Simply Graphic “Fleurs”  – Embossing powders : SSS ” Antique gold”, HA “Silver”, Inca Stamp “Copper” – Ink : Tsukineko “Delicata golden glitz”, Memento Luxe “Coffee crunch”.

  1. So sorry for visiting so late, Izzy. Wow, how do you manage so many cards every week?! I love the use of the brown base for your butterfly, it works brilliantly with the gilding flakes and the colours. Your adorable penguin is just fantastic, what a great little card. And the stylish use of the different metallics on the dark base makes your last card so classy xx

  2. Three gorgeous CAS designs !!! The metallic accents on them give the cards such elegance! ( And a fun surprise in the second card :)! ) I have to use my metallic flakes more often! The gilded butterfly looks beautiful! Thank you so much for joining us at Seize the Birthday!

  3. Sensational cards as always Izzy. They are all cool, CAS and very classy. I’m totally in love with your last card – what a fantastic way to showcase metallics. The mirror paper on that adorable penguin card was inspired. Bravo! It’s lovely to see gilding flakes being used – they are such fun but can be messy. Hope you enjoy making many more cards with them. xx

  4. Love your three beautiful cards and three different ways to add a metallic look to your projects Izzy. I have some gilding flakes and really should use them! I also have metallic cardstock and never though to do my ice slab with it. Thank you for sharing all your ideas with us, your cards are gorgeous as always, Lisa xx

  5. WOW! What an array of fantastic designs and metallic inspirations Izzy. Love each of these and they are so perfect in showcasing your classy CAS talent as well as unique ways to incorporate metallics. Love the cute penguin in particular but I just can’t resist that festive fun little scene. Thanks for your kind words on my blog and sorry if my stepping down came as a shock … with so much going on in recent months I’ve forgotten who I’ve told. I’ll still be hopping around blogland but maybe more Instagram when I get my crafty mojo back so will ‘see’ you around and at Uniko of course. Hugs Sarah x

  6. Three amazing cards, Izzy! I especially love the third card, it has so many beautiful ideas… Love the use of several metallics on one card and they really pop from the black card base. I also love the vellum sentiment banner! Your second card is so cute with that penquin and the mirror card… Love the shine of that. Cute little scene! The first card you made is perfectly CAS and has a beautiful rustic feel combined with the shine from the gilding flakes.

  7. My goodness, Isabelle, what a lovely selection of cards you’ve created. The metallics you’ve used really show beautifully against that black background. I love that you did your die-cuts and then added your heat embossing. The extra work really makes those branches pop against that lovely poinsettia. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

  8. Amazing, Izzy! I’ve only used gilding flakes once . Love how stunning your gilded butterfly looks against the brown. Beautiful pencil colouring and colours. Your second card is adorable.. clever use of mirri paper for the ice. And your final card is brilliant, incorporating THREE metallics seamlessly in one elegant design. Incredible shine agains the black. Well done! xx

  9. What shimmery loveliness, Isabelle … a beautifully gilded and coloured butterfly … just the cutest, sparkly skating penguin … and a gorgeous bouquet of metallic sprigs around that lovely poinsettia! Don’t you just love Simply Graphic goodies! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  10. Such a classy first card and love the brown card stock and the gold and brown of the butterfly. CAS perfection and the flakes look wonderful. Cute second card and the turquoise looks so pretty and wonderful scene making. Such an elegant third card with glorious layering of the heated embossing metallics and love how you left the stamped poinsettia with no colour.
Stunning selection of cards and fabulous inspiration, thank you X

  11. Lots of lovely creativity and your Penguine card certainly makes you smile, thanks so much for sharing with us at Penny Black and More ‘Make Someone Smile’ theme at Penny Black and More challenge.
